The Music Stand is a 'brick and mortar' music store that has been family owned and operated for over 30 years in the Golden Horseshoe region of Ontario, Canada.

In 1989, after graduating from the Music Program at Mohawk College (Organ) and McMaster University (Music Education), Kaz Chrapka bought into The Music Stand franchise. The franchise consisted of the music retail store and music studio. He joined the franchise family as the 18th franchisee in Canada. Due to an unfavourable music market and a recession in the early 1990’s the franchise system collapsed and the head office closed down. The Music Stand in Hamilton was the only one to survive and kept its name.

The Music Stand music school started with 30 of Mr. Chrapka’s private students and in a few years grew to 400 students. Over the years, more than 4,000 students have taken lessons at The Music Stand. The Music Stand has two locations and has been in operation since 1989 in Hamilton and Stoney Creek. The Music Stand has a proven track record of offering quality music lessons. Some of our graduates attended College or University to pursue their passion for music, and a few of them came back to become our teachers. Others are successfully performing and pursuing their musical career.
